The Global Solidarities Levies Taskforce co-chaired by Barbados, France, and Kenya explores and promotes innovative taxation mechanisms aimed at generating substantial funding for climate and development goals.
Supported by a Secretariat hosted at the European Climate Foundation, the task force seeks to design levies that are feasible, scalable, and equitable, targeting sectors such as fossil fuels, aviation, maritime transport, financial transactions, and high-net-worth individuals. The objective is to mobilize at least 0.1% of GDP from participating countries, equating to an estimated $100 billion annually, to support climate action and sustainable development.
